Department of Economics, NTU is the prominent, oldest-established economics department in Taiwan, nurturing promising financial and economic leaders. Our department accepts approximately 120 undergraduate and 60 graduate students each year via application, all of them being elite students with very outstanding academic achievements. In order to create a sturdy foundation for our students, we provide a wide variety of courses, many taught in English. Our department offers the BESAP exchange program to study at UC Berkley, Double-Degree Program with City University of Hong Kong and with Waseda University, and NTU has many student exchange programs in other countries, providing students the chance to be educated abroad. In addition, we also have an executive master degree program that provides mid-career professionals the opportunity to pursue higher education.

Members of our faculty do numerous researches, and have achieved many accomplishments in the diverse fields of economics, with works published in well-known international journals, such as American Economic Review（AER）, Science, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Econometrics, etc. In addition, our department often hosts international academic conferences, invites professors and scholars from overseas for lectures, provides the newest research information, and encourages international academic exchange.

Our department is home to “Taiwan Economic Review”, the preeminent social science journal in Taiwan. We also cooperate with City University of Hong Kong for the publication of two SSCI journals; “Pacific Economic Review” and “Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting and Economics”

The department is located at the heart of Taipei, with convenient public transportation. Being the political, economic, and cultural center of Taiwan, the city of Taipei is well-known for its delicacies and modern street culture.
